10 Years In Review: A Message from Kamala Harris
Attorney General of California, Kamala Harris has been a supporter of sf|noir since day one. You can see a clip of her welcoming the audience at the Palace of Fine Arts at the Second Annual San Francisco Black History Month with Michael Deflorimonte on the home page, and here is a message from her to our audiences at the first sf|noir Wine & Food Event as part of the Ninth Annual San Francisco Black History Month Celebration:
It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to sf|noir’s Ninth Annual San Francisco Black History Month Celebration. This year, sf|noir focuses on the culinary arts as they present The sf|noir Wine & Food Event. I have personally been involved with this organization for many years and continue to be excited as sf|noir continues to emerge as a force in San Francisco arts and culture.
Over the years, sf|noir has been creating very exciting multi-disciplinary arts programming which truly demonstrates the many contributions that African Americans have made to the arts, not only in San Francisco, but across the country and beyond. sf|noir has brought a greater focus to these contributions and provided a platform for African American artists to present their work.
Celebrating Black History Month allows us to reflect upon the work of our ancestors, rejoice in the present, and look ahead to new possibilities, new ideas, and new forms of expression. It gives me great pleasure to join with the many communities and organizations that have supported the work of sf|noir this year and over the past 9 years. I am excited to share with you this wonderful celebration and encourage you to continue to support the arts and organizations similar to sf|noir as they work diligently to ensure that the contributions of African Americans are preserved and highlighted.
Best Regards,
Kamala D. Harris
