For Immediate Release February 10, 2002 SAN FRANCISCO'S FIRST ANNUAL BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION On Friday February 22, 2002, in honor of Black History Month, SF|NOIR, the Bay Area's black arts & culture organization, will host the first annual San Francisco Black History Month Celebration. The evening's program, which will take place at the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco, consists of theatre, dance, music, and spoken word performances and includes a screening of the documentary film "Street Soldiers: The Story of the Omega Boy's Club," narrated by Danny Glover. An exclusive after party will be hosted by Sophie's Metrosoul. To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Langston Hughes, the festival will present music by Jazz Artists Robert Landham, the Marcus Shelby Trio featuring Clairdee, theatrical performances from the African American Shakespeare Company, and Afro Solo, spoken word by Youth Speaks and the Living Word project, and a hip hop dance performance from the Soul Force Dance Troupe. The after party begins at 10:30.
